Mr. Gayan,

I noticed that your grades in PowerSchool for Nick's Computer Design class are not up-to-date. The last entered date is 2/21 and both 2/21 and
2/14 are actually blank for Nick's grades, leaving only one assignment for which he has a grade for the entire quarter. I really need to make sure
Nick is on track with this class so that if he is missing work he can get it done.

Even if you don't enter the data into PowerSchool, please email me and let me know where he stands.

Thanks.

Kristine

Just remind nick that he was told (MANY TIMES) that his practice programming projects (that accompany the reading) AND his review questions still
are not uploaded. They should have been uploaded over a week ago and I reminded a few students a couple of times last week to upload there work to
Moodle so that I could grade them.
Also, you can remind him as I will Monday that the Exercises for Chapter 6 should have been copied to his Home drive here at school. He was
supposed to do that. He said he did complete them all but I haven't seen them yet!
I think his selective hearing this week didn't include my voice.
Thanks,

Dear Mr Gayan:
Please advise on the "F's" graded for the weeks of 3/4/14 - 3/19/14. For the weeks of 3/04/14 thru 3/14/14, Danielle did have a splint on her left hand due
to a broken finger. She was unable to type during this period; please advise the protocol to make up these practices/exercises since she now that she
has full function of this finger. Also noted is there any reason that she would not have been able to do the Chapter 6 Exercises (Grade F) on 3/19/14?
I will certainly be presenting these FAILING grades to her after school tonight and would appreciate your input.
As her grandmother, I do monitor her grades weekly and discuss any shortcomings with her. I am very much interested in her academic achievement.
Thank you for your assistance in this regard.

Mary Jo,
Thanks for email!
I am not sure if you talked to Danielle or not, but she was supposed to turn in all of these assignments listed above and she forgot to do this. Her Injury
should not have been a factor as she had plenty of time to complete them.
She is supposed to UPLOAD her completed work as she goes along but she was didn't do that BUT she was working very hard to complete her work. I
reminded her on Friday but she decided to wait until yesterday to do the uploading. Of course, she forgot a few files and I emailed her last night. She
emailed me saying she will upload them this morning and I will have them graded for her.
Thanks,

Tricia,
Went back and looked to see if she uploaded any of the old Chapter 2 assignments.
Her 'ORIENTATION' practice, which is a step-by-step practice assignment, was uploaded but was not finished. I showed her what the solution should
look like and she agreed, it wasn't even close. She told me that she had a couple files saved with the same name and must have uploaded the wrong
one. At least, that is what she told me.
Not a single Chapter 2 Exercise was uploaded (other than the small 5 point exercise we did together in class).
We are in Chapter 3 right now, and here is my concern with Abby. The students should have had their review questions completed by end of class
Monday. They had all last week to work on them. These are certainly something she should be doing at home. Her questions are not uploaded yet.
With the material in the chapter, there are simple step-by-step hands-on practices that go with the reading sections and review questions. Basically,
practice what you just learned. Very STEP-BY-STEP. She HAS completed them and actually showed me her last practice towards the end of class
today. Problem was, she cheated and had a friend send her his assignment and she tried to pass the assignment as her own. I included an attachment
of it.
Couple things! This assignment was so simple and didn't take long to do. When she called me over to see the assignment, Jacob Henes name was
still typed in the last line ( I emphasized it in red). I asked her about it and she said she was just goofing around and said she just used his name.
Basically, she didn't realize his name was supposed to be in the file and didn't change it until I got to her computer. This was a direct lie!
What she doesn't know is that each file in our lab will have the creator's signature embedded in the document. It was created by Jacob Henes. Both will
receive zeros on this practice, but obviously there is a bigger concern for you and I now. If she was willing to do this on this small assignment, is she
going to want to keep doing this for the others she is behind in?
Again, this practice was so short. It basically had them create a simple document with bulleted list formatting, adding a graphic, and saving it as a Web
page. As you can see in the attached file, simple practice.
Talk to her! She simply isn't getting things done like she should. I don't know what she is telling you, but she isn't showing much maturity in her
responsibilities right now.
This week, the students were working on some of the Exercises for Chapter 3. This worked great because the majority of students in class were
bombarded with these little exercises that had them practice all the main concepts they learned in the lesson. It was really awesome because so many
of the students were working on the exercises and asking questions when they go a little stuck. That is the whole purpose of giving them class time to
work on these exercises. Good repetition! She just isn't there yet.
I think when we get back from break, setup a day after school to stop in with Abby and lets get her on task. If she needs to stay after school, I am here
for that purpose. There is no way she should be getting so behind. She simply doesn't get done what she needs to when she is here.
Let me know!

Nick,
Thank you for your e-mail.
I do talk daily with Abby, as I do with all my children. I am obviously very concerned and upset that she cheated on that assignment and that she lied.
This truly is not characteristic of her. She has never cheated that I am aware of or gotten into trouble in school or outside of school up to this point.
However, it is clear that she cheated and lied to both of us. She will have stiff consequences at home for her behavior.
I will sit with her tonight when she gets home from basketball practice and make sure that she gets in all if the assignments. You can rest assure that
she will not cheat because I will be right there as she completes them.
I will check her schedule and mine next week and let you know if there is a time after school that we can meet with you.
Have a nice Thanksgiving,
Tricia

Remind her that I can always meet her before school to do extra work if she has basketball after school. Else, if she has access to Office 2013 at home
(some she can do right in SkyDrive) have her be diligent on completing work at home.
You have a great Thanksgiving as well! As Ellette reminded us at cycling, don't eat too much of the "NOT-SO-GOOD" stuff! I will probably be suffering
come Friday morning at the gym!

Tricia,
I received some of her Chapter 2 files. She did Exercise 2 instead of Exercise 6. She also only did part of her SCULPTORS exercise. I emailed her on
these two items.
She also needs to complete Exercise 10 called PROPOSAL.
Thanks,

Thanks...bummer that she did the wrong exercise. (I looked over what she did but somehow missed that). She worked on them all on
Wednesday evening. She will do exercise 6 & 10 and complete SCULPTORS today.

The first practice in Chapter 3 (TRAINING) is not completed. You uploaded it and there are many parts not completed.
Remember, it is broken down into 6 parts. Take your time. With the parts you are missing, I am beginning to wonder what you are doing when you work
on these practices. I would suggest redoing it and take your time.
Remember, the step-by-step practices get you ready for completing the exercises.
