Eleven Major Factors of Leadership:

2 Self-Control

Hello there and welcome. Welcome to Six Minutes to Success. Do you know, I believe
this series is getting better as we go along and I hope you agree with me because
were bringing you some great information.

We talked about Napoleon Hills chapter on organized planning and eleven major
factors in great leadership, in great leaders. The second one was self-control.
Now, I want you to try to imagine a person leading others who has no control over
themselves. If we cant give ourselves a command and follow it, were not in control of
ourselves. Do you see, thats a step that you must take if youre going to break away
from the paradigm of the mass consciousness. Youve got to be able to give yourself a
command and follow it. J ames Allen, in his wonderful little book As A Man Thinketh,
on his chapter on Serenity, said, Calmness of mind is one of the beautiful jewels of
wisdom. Its the result of long and patient effort in self-control.

Are you in control of yourself? Do you react to whats going on outside of you? Or do
you just observe and respond to it? Do you see, self-control is a phenomenal thing. Now
if youre going to control self, youre going to have to know self. Were triune beings, we
live simultaneously on three planes of understanding. Were spiritual beings, we have an
intellect and we live in a physical body and we correspond with the material universe
and the entire universe operates by Law.

We want to learn to control ourselves. We want to learn to lead ourselves, and then we
want to lead others. Take them to a Promised Land, show them a better way of life and
I guarantee you, you will be abundantly rewarded for it.

Spend four or five minutes sitting down and just asking yourself, How in control of self
am I?
