PSS A320 APPROACH TUTORIAL

The purpose of the quick tutorial is to show you the proper sequence of events to setup
your Airbus for an ILS approach.
Some liberties are taken with preflight procedures.
FS2002 SETUP
from your desktop, select PSS A-3xx Configuration
under Startup, uncheck both "Start with Engines Off" and "Start with Cold and Dark"
click OK
start FS2002
select Settings, International, set Units of measure to "US System"
click OK
select "CREATE A FLIGHT"
Current Aircraft
Aircraft manufacturer > Airbus
Aircraft model > A320c
Variation > PSS A320 CFM Airbus House (or your choice)
click OK
Current Location
Airport ID > CYYZ
Runway/ Starting > 23
click OK
Current Date and Time
Time >Day
click OK
Fuel Settings
enter 35%/0%/35%
click OK
click "FLY NOW!"
PANEL SETUP
open OVERHEAD panel ("5" on keypad)
STROBE on
BEACON on
LANDING LIGHTS on
NAV and LOGO on
SEAT BELTS on
exit OVERHEAD
open MCDU panel (shift +3, or hotspot)
enter CYYZ/CYYZ, press LSK 1R
enter PSS, press LSK 3L
enter 5, press LSK 6L
press ALIGN IRS
press F-PLN button
press LSK 1L CYYZ
press LSK 1L DEPARTURE
press UP ARROW
press LSK 5L for runway 23
press LSK 6R to INSERT
Because there is no SID selected, the Airbus default will be to insert a climb ahead on
runway track to 1500 ft AGL.
CYYZ is already at 569ft AGL so this will show as a floating waypoint with the identifier
of "2069"
press LSK 4L CYYZ
press LSK 1R ARRIVAL
press UP ARROW twice
press LSK 5L ILS23
press LSK 6R to INSERT
press INIT button
press NEXT PAGE
enter 131.0, press LSK 1R for ZFWCG/ZFW
enter 9.4, press LSK 2R for BLOCK
confirm 140.0, as MTOW (MTOW = 162.0, MLW = 142.2)
press PERF button
right click V1, VR, V2
press RAD NAV
press CLR
press LSK 1R
confirm IYZ/111.50 at VOR1
press PERF
exit MCDU panel
FD to ON
confirm mode to ARC
set range to 10
press ARPT
set VOR/ADF1/ 2 on EFIS panel to VOR
press(left click) SPD selector for managed mode
set ALT on FCU panel to 5,000
AUTOBRK to MAX
FLAPS to 3
press TO CONFIG
confirm no flags for T.O.
expand PFD
expand ND
TAKE OFF
PARKING BRAKE to OFF
increase N1 to 50%
set THRUST LEVERS to FLX/MCT gate(press +, twice)
ROTATE at 139kts
at 30ft, POS RATE of climb, GEAR UP
at 100 ft
press AP1 on FCU panel ("Z" on keyboard)
PULL Heading button to set current heading
at THR RED/ACC altitude of 2060
observe LVR CLB now flashing
set THRUST LEVERS to CL (press "-" on number pad" or mouse control)
FLAPs to 1, as you pass through the "F" speed
FLAPs to UP, passing "S"
at 3.0 dme from YTP (VOR2)
set HDG to 326 (tip, right click, right side of HDG selector 9 times)
at 7.3 dme from YTP (VOR2)
set HDG to 056
at 15.0 dme from YTP
open MCDU
press PERF, next PHASE till APPR
enter 29.92 for QNH
770 for MDA
press PERF
press APPR PHASE
press CONFIRM APPR PHASE
exit MCDU
set ALT to 3,000
PULL ALT selector
press ILS
set AUTOBRK to MED
at 20.0 dme from YTP
set HDG to 206
when turn completed
press LOC
select FLAP 1
at LOC intercept (monitor on PFD annunciation)
select FLAP 2
set HDG to 236
press APPR, twice (first removes, LOC, second engages APPR mode)
press AP2
press shift + / to ARM GND SPLRS
when Glide Slope active (monitor on PFD)
select GEAR down
with Glide Path at one division above
select FLAP 3
as the glidepath interception takes place
select FLAP to FULL
set the missed approach altitude, 3,000 on the FCU
check landing memo - Green
at about 400ft on RAD ALT you see "LAND" appear on the FMA
at verbal "RETARD, RETARD"
press "-" on keypad for THRUST IDLE
on runway
press "-" for REVERSE THRUST
disengage AP1 and AP2, steer the aircraft down the runway
at 60 knots press + for IDLE
at 40 knots apply manual brakes, press .
disarm the spoilers, press /
clear runway
FLAPS to zero (fully up)
set transponder to 2000 on the ground
switch off both the ILS and FD buttons on the EFIS panel
LANDING LIGHTS off
TAXI LIGHTS on
taxi to gate and shutdown
