Descriptive statistics
This deal with collection of data, its presentation in
various forms, such as tables, graphs and diagrams
and finding averages and other measures which would
describe the data.e.g, businessmen make use of
descriptive statistics in presenting their annual report.
Inferential Statistics

This deals with techniques used for analysis


of data, making the estimates and drawing
conclusions from limited information taken
on sample basis and testing the reliability
of the estimates.
Collection of Data
The word statistics means
numerical data, e.g. the numerical
facts relating to any field of study.

.Primary Data
The data published or used by an organization
which originally collected them are called
Primary Data. thus ,the primary data are the 1st
hand information collected, complied and
published by an organization for a certain
purpose,e.g.the data in the population census
reports are primary because they are collected,
complied and published by the population
census commission.
Secondary Data

The data published or used by an


organization other then the one which
originally collected them are known as
secondary data, e.g. the data in the
economic survey of Pakistan are
secondary because the are originally
collected by the Federal Bureau of
Statistics, the State Bank of Pakistan, the
central board of Revenue.

• Indirect Oral Investigation.
• Registration.
• Estimates through Local Correspondents.
• Investigation through Enumerators.
• Mailed Questionnaire Method.

data

• Semi Official sources

• Technical and Trade journals.
