Eligibility
He/She should be citizen of India.
Minimum age for contesting in election is 25
years
Candidate should be registered as voter
Candidate should not be a Criminal
background. i.e. he/she should not jailed for
more than 2 years imprisonment
Still now, there is no limit on the number of
candidates for contesting from a constituency
Regarding Security deposit (not fees)
To contest for MP election, candidates has to
deposit Rs. 10000/- as security deposit, but
there is a concession for a SC/ST candidate
contesting in MP election, he/she has to
deposit Rs.5000 as security amount.
For those contesting in assembly elections,
he/she has to make Rs. 5000 as security
deposit, while for SC/ST candidates, it is Rs.
2500 only.

Election Commission of India
Article 324 of the Constitution of India bestows the
relevant powers, duties and functions upon the Election
Commission of India

Section 14 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951
provides for conduct of the elections.

Election is a mechanism in which people choose their
candidate involving political mobilization and organizational
complexity.

Election on 543 seats are to be taken care by the ECI.

SECURITY ARRANGEMENTS

At Storage place of polled EVMs- TWO tier security arrangements
round the clock at the strong rooms having polled EVMs.

-Innermost perimeter by CPF and outer perimeter by State Armed
Police(SAP).

-The candidates representatives to be allowed to stay outside

-Round the clock control room in a adjacent room with a Gazetted
officer.

- A log book shall be maintained.

- The CPF contingent shall be given a camera to record
such visits.

- All entry points of strong room should be under
constant videography using web cam and laptops.

- Round the clock uninterrupted power supply,
adequate fire extinguishers etc to be arranged for.

- No vehicle, official or private shall be allowed inside
