    Subject:- Re-designation of the merged cadre of SO(A) and AAO and classification
    thereof :

    Ministry of Finance vide Notification under GSR 622 (E) dated 29.08.08 had
    upgraded the pre-revised pay scales of Section Officer (Accounts) and Assistant
    Accounts Officer and placed them in a common Pay Band (PB-2 Rs 9300-34800) with
    Grade Pay of Rs 4800/- merging the posts of Section Officer (Accounts) and Assistant
    Accounts Officer.

    2. Consequently, it has been decided that the merged cadre of Section
    Officer(Accounts) and Assistant Accounts Officer will be re-designated as Assistant
    Accounts Officer and classified as Group B Gazetted. Till such time, the new
    Recruitment Rules are framed, the promotions to the new cadre of AAO would be made
    in terms of existing RRs of Section Officer (Accounts) cadre.

    3. This will take effect from the date of issue of this letter.
