WHAT~ Tentative events for the Hooked on Reading Literacy Initiative launching this year!

WHO~ Students, parents/guardians, staff, administrators, board members, and all citizens of the community are welcome to join!
October December
Books & Bagels @ Barnes and Noble!
Join us for Readers Theatre and Poetry Slam performances, as
well as a writers workshop for parents/guardian.
Buy a book and you may win a Nook! Customers can enter a
drawing for a chance to win a Nook.
*10% of the days proceeds will benefit the local school charity to purchase school
supplies for under-privileged youth

Faculty/Student Basketball Tournament
Come out and support the school in a friendly game of
basketball. Proceeds for the ticket sales will be split between
the Reach Out and Read, and the Toys for Tots organizations.
There will be raffles to win baskets organized by the winter
sports teams.
February April
Legos and Letters Luncheon
Attend this free writers workshop for letter writing and
formatting, and bring your tots (siblings) with to explore the
uses of the Legos!
The Event teams with the Any Soldier to send a letters of
gratitude to soldiers during the Valentines Day week.
Enjoy a free lunch!
Run for Literacy
Say hello to spring with a cool 5K through the local
neighborhood! For $25, you can run, walk, jog, rollerblade, or
bike ride AND support the Hooked on Reading summer
program.
After your 5k, enjoy a free back massage, a warm sandwich, a
cold drink, etc. and many other surprises.
Concern about childcare? No problem! Leave your child in the
care of the early childhood education program leaders so you
can run free!
