Parametrics
HEAT EXCHANGER
Objective: Learn the steps involved in placing more complex equipment
using Parametrics.
1. Select START.


2. Select PARAMETRIC HELP.


3. Select Shell & Tube Exchangers.
4. Select Hor S & T Exchanger.
5. Accept the form.

13. Window-in to CYL-1s platform in isometric view.
14. Select ADD.


15. Identify CYL-1.
16. Select PARAMETRIC HELP, then ACCESS APPURTENANCES.


17. Select HANDRAIL and accept the form.
18. Make sure that the primary is UP and the secondary is North.
19. In the COMP field, key in:

HR1
20. Select SELECT POINTS.
21. Tentative snap to start point A. (See figure below.) Be sure to use a
<D>after every snap.
22. Tentative snap to points B, C, D, and E. (See figure below.)

Note: Be sure to snap to the top edge.

23. Reset to terminate point placement. Be sure primary is Up, and
secondary is North.
Note: If you misplace the handrail due to misplacement of the tentative
snaps in step 22 delete the handrail using the Delete command from the
Component Palette and repeat steps 14 - 23.
Accept.

4.4 Manipulating Parametrics
MOVE
1. Select MOVE from the Component Palette.


2. Identify the platform.
3. Select MOVE ALONG PRIM.
4. Key in the following data:

6. Identify the handrail.

11. Select ACCEPT from the Component Palette.

13. Make sure that primary is Up and secondary is North.
14. Accept.
15. Identify EXCH-1.

Note: Use VIEW EQP if EXCH-1 is not visible in any of the views. If this
is done, reselect the MODIFY & COPY.
16. Key in EXCH-2 and accept using a <D>.
17. Key in the following data:

18. Make sure that primary is North and secondary is Up.
19. Accept.
COPY
20. Select COPY from the Equipment Palette.



21. Identify EXCH-2
22. Select ACCEPT from the Equipment Palette if prompted for a reference
point.
23. Key in EXCH-3.
24. Select DELTA PDS XYZ.
