Curriculum Mapping for Quarter 1



During quarter one students will learn how civilization developed and flourished around Mesopotamia.
Students will also learn about misperceptions that relate to the Middle East and how myths can often
lead to misunderstanding and bias. They will also learn about the history of Islam and the types of
governments within the region.
They will also learn:
How terrorism plays a role in the world.
How stereotypes can lead to misperceptions.
Why civilization started in Mesopotamia.
The role of social media in the world as it relates to the Middle East.
The history of Islam.
The types of government in the Middle East.
