Rationale: I have included this artifact on understanding the concept of variables under
Standard 8A2. I feel the assignment belongs under this standard because I had to solve for three
different variables. For this assignment, I had to calculate the number of pencils, erasers, and clips
purchased by a customer, given a few clues. I came to understand that it is important to track
which variable you are solving and where to plug it in correctly. In my future teaching, I will
strive to enrich the lives of all my students and enhance the classroom climate through having my
students begin to solve for one variable and then increase the number of variables as their
comprehension grows.
