EXPERIENCE
Mr M Anis Ud Dowla has worked with the British Oxygen Group of U.K. in Pakistan, Bangladesh and
Kenya for 27 years including as 12 years as Managing Director of Bangladesh Oxygen Limited. He
joined as Group Managing Director of three ICI companies in Bangladesh in 1987 one of which has been
re-named ACI Limited for which he is the Chairman. Mr. M. Anis Ud Dowla is the senior most serving
business executive with professional education in Management. He joined in the Executive cadre of
Pakistan Oxygen in 1960.

He has climbed to the position of Managing Director of BOC (Bangladesh) Ltd in 1973
wherefrom he was seconded to East African Oxygen in Nairobi in 1982.
In 1987 he joined ICI Group of Companies in Bangladesh as Group Managing Director.
In 1992 ICI divested its investment in Bangladesh through which he acquired
controlling shares in the re-named company ACI Ltd.
ACI was the first company in Bangladesh to have acquired ISO 9001 Certification for
Quality Management System in 1995. In 2000 ACI acquired ISO 14001 Certification
for Quality Environmental System, again the first in Bangladesh.
Mr. Dowla has a passion for quality. He has made ACI the symbol of quality products
and customer service. Under his leadership and vision ACI is recognised as a highly
respected company with a mission to improve the quality of life of the people of

Mr. Dowla commands great respect as a leader of the business community. He has been
the President of Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry for 3 terms in 1976,
1977 and 1996. He has also been the President of Bangladesh Employers Federation in
1977, 1978 and is its current President.
Mr. Dowla has been able to create a very congenial work environment in ACI. He has
successfully introduced productivity related collective bargaining with his unionised
employees through which both sides make concessions to arrive at an Agreement on
higher wages by providing higher productivity. The employee relations in ACI is an
example of harmony between employers and the unionised employees.
Mr. Dowla has expanded the business of ACI from a pharma company in 1992 when it
was divested with a turnover of Tk. 120 crores to a conglomerate with a turnover in
2004 of Tk.266 crores and diversified into Agro Chemicals, Fast Moving Consumer
Goods, Animal Health, Seeds and Export. He has set up three Joint Venture Companies,
one with Tetley Tea of UK, one with Dabur of India and recently with Godrej Agrovet
in Poultry Sector.
Having had training and experience in working with two large British multi-nationals
for over 30 years, Mr Dowla has continued to maintain high ethical work culture and
management style in ACI with great emphasis on customer service and focus on quality
and productivity. ACI is the first Company in Bangladesh to have obtained certifications
for ISO 9001 Quality Management System and ISO 14001 Environmental Management
System.
Mr Dowla has maintained a high profile in business circle and provided leadership to
the business community in several capacities including three terms as President,
Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Dhaka and four terms as President,
Bangladesh Employers Association. Mr Dowla is currently a member of the Executive
Committee of Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Dhaka.
Mr. Dowla received extensive foreign training during his career with both British
Oxygen and ICI Group of Companies.
