I. Listed Information: Acting Supervisor Ranger Correia, Ranger Wright, Ranger Hapke, Maintenance Supervisor Beckman, Acting Supervisor Parry, Project Manager Herbert, IT sterzl Calfire Battalion Chief 1613, PA Fire 365, PA Fire 66, Calfire 1673, Calfire 1663, Calfire 1771, County Rescue 74, Palo Alto Battalion Chief 66 & 62, County 374, Palo Alto Utility 66, 2 Airtankers, Calfire helicopter 106, MROSD Watertender 1, 2 CHP Officers, 2 Santa Cruz Sheriff's deputies, 2 Palo Alto Police Officers, Palo Alto Patrol 1 & 4 II. Synopsis: On 6/13/2014 A car accident happened that caused a wildland fire. The car was traveling on Page Mill Rd. the driver swerved out of the way of a deer and crashed into the hill side, and started the vegetation fire, which spread into the Foothill Preserve. The conjointing angencies Controled and put out the fire, and the occupents of the vehicle where uninjured. III. Statements: Victim 1 stated to Ranger Stanton that he was driving approximately 35 mph when he saw a deer in the raod and swerved which caused him to crash. He stated that the car didn't catch on fire for 20 minutes. IV. Investigation: A. Initial Observation: Supervisor Ranger Corriea stated there was a car fire on Page Mill Road. When we arrived at 1430; the car was fully engulfed and had spread into the vegetation. B. Crime Scene: The accident occurred on Page Mill Road between gate FH01 and Palo Alto gate 3 on a hair pin turn. The fire went into the Foothills Open Space Preserve. It is unclear what direction the vehicle was traveling when the accident happened (east or west?). Site: Foothills Open Space Preserve Violation: No

C. Evidence Taken: None D. Action Taken: Ranger Staton arrived on scene and with a 100 foot hose put out fire until the pumper ran out, then assisted with logistics. Supervisor Ranger Corriea handled logisitic. Ranger Hapke and Supervisor Parry handled road closures. Maintenance Supervisor Beckman assisted with water from the water tender and logistics.
The fire was put out by assisting agencies. The airtanker dropped 2 laods of fire retardent, the helicopter droped water, and Calfire built a 6 foot hand line around the fire perimeter. District staff continued to monitor the burn area throughtout the night per Palo Alto Fire's request.
The vehicle was towed. V. Additional Information: Ranger Wright assesed the victims getting checked out Palo Alto paramedics and the were released to the victim's mother, the victim's declined and medical assistance.
