Due to display screen limitations only the highest priority information is displayed at any one instance
unless a user overrides the priority system by operation of the front panel pushbuttons. The priority is as
follows:
1) Access level-1 display priority:
a) Operator control requests - The T1000 Marine Controller obeys instructions and the front
panel displays the requested information; the information is displayed permanently as long
as no higher priority information currently exists, or for 20 seconds if higher priority
information exists, or momentarily if a monitored event occurs.
b) Unacknowledged (not Accepted) fire alarms.
c) Unacknowledged (not Accepted) technical alarms.
d) Unacknowledged (not Accepted) fault warnings.
e) Unacknowledged (not Accepted) system faults.
f) Acknowledged (Accepted) fire alarms.
g) Acknowledged (Accepted) technical alarms.
h) Acknowledged (Accepted) fault warnings.
i) Acknowledged (Accepted) system faults.
j) Disablement information.
k) Test mode information.
2) At access level-2 the display obeys operator instructions and only reverts to level 1 20
seconds after the last pushbutton operation irrespective of any other events.
Note: It is recommended that the operator requests a return to level 1 by operating the
SYSTEM ACCESS pushbutton twice rather than leaving the system at access level-2.

3. OPERATION
3.1 QUIESCENT (NORMAL) CONDITION
With the controller in the normal condition ie no disablements or test conditions are set on the system, no
alarms or faults are present and the green (right hand) POWER LED is lit, all other LEDs are
extinguished, the controller sounder is silent, all outputs are inactive and the LCD shows the configured
quiescent message.
3.2 CONTROLLER SECURITY ACCESS LEVELS
The Controller is secure from unauthorised operation by providing 4-levels of access, where level-l is the
lowest priority and is available without the need for the user to input an access code. Each of the
remaining 3-levels each require the user to input an access code, therefore these codes are intended to
limit unauthorised access to the associated Controller Facilities. Access level-4 is only intended for the
use of the Commissioning Engineer, to enable the controller to be set-up to satisfy Customer
requirements. The access level-4 code is not required by the user and is not therefore provided. The
following table details the facilities available at each user access level:
3.3 CONTROLLER SOUNDER OPERATION
The controller sounder operates in three modes, dependent upon the prevailing conditions:
1) Alarm mode.
A fire alarm/technical alarm condition arises causing the controller sounder to sound
continuously (default).
2) Fault mode.
A fault condition causes the controller sounder to pulse, 0.5 seconds ON and 0.5 seconds
OFF.
3) Abnormal mode.
When the controller sounder has been silenced following either a fire alarm or fault
condition and a non-quiescent condition still prevails (ie the fire/fault condition has been
acknowledged), or there is a disablement, test or management access level condition set
then the controller sounder indicates this by sounding intermittently, for 0.5 second every 2
minutes.

3.4 ZONE PRIORITIES
A zone can only be in one state at a time. The states are prioritised such that a higher priority condition
takes precedence over a lower one. The priority states are as follows:
1) Test Mode.
2) Disable.
3) Fire Alarm.
4) Technical Alarm.
5) Fault.
a) Short Circuit.
b) Open Circuit.
c) Detector Removed.
3.5 FIRE ALARM
Any detection zone going into the alarm condition causes the controller sounder to activate in the alarm
mode, causing the FIRE ALARM LEDs to flash, the relevant zone PIXEL and MESSAGE on the FIRE
ALARM screen to indicate, the sounder outputs to activate and any additional programmed outputs to
activate.
To accept a FIRE ALARM, proceed as follows:
1) Press the SYSTEM ACCESS pushbutton, enter the user code (3456) and press the
ACCEPT pushbutton. This silences the internal sounder and causes the FIRE
ALARM LEDs to change from flashing to lit steady.
At this stage, should another detection zone go into alarm, the FIRE ALARM LEDs reactivate, the
relevant zone PIXEL and MESSAGE on the FIRE ALARM screen indicate and the controller sounder
operates in the alarm mode. Acceptance of this subsequent alarm has the same effect as previously
described.
Once the cause of the alarm has been investigated and removed, press the SYSTEM ACCESS
pushbutton, enter the user code (3456) and then press the RESET pushbutton causing all detectors
and zones in alarm to be reset and the controller to return to the quiescent condition.
3.6 MANUAL ALARM EVACUATE
To activate the alarm, press the SYSTEM ACCESS pushbutton, enter the user code (3456) and press
the EVACUATE pushbutton, this causes the controller sounder to activate in the alarm mode, the
FIRE ALARM LEDs to flash, a MESSAGE on the FIRE ALARM screen to indicate all relevant outputs
activated. Silencing and resetting is as described for a fire condition.
Should the system be fitted with a Remote Evacuate, operation of this facility immediately causes the
above actions without the need of an access code.

3.7 TECHNICAL ALARMS
In the cause and effect software zone inputs can be programmed to monitor alarm conditions which are
not fire, these are called Technical alarms.
Any detection zone going into the alarm condition causes the controller sounder to activate in the alarm
mode, the TECHNICAL ALARM LED to flash, the relevant zone PIXEL and MESSAGE on the
TECHNICAL ALARM screen to indicate and the relevant configured outputs to be activated.
To accept a TECHNICAL ALARM, proceed as follows:
1) Press the SYSTEM ACCESS pushbutton, enter the user code (3456) and press the
ACCEPT pushbutton. This silences the internal sounder and causes the TECHNICAL
ALARM LED to change from flashing to lit steady.
At this stage, should another detection zone go into alarm, the TECHNICAL ALARM LED will reflash,
the relevant zone PIXEL and MESSAGE on the TECHNICAL ALARM screen indicates and the
controller sounder and relay outputs are again activated. This alarm can be acknowledged in the same
manner as previously described.
Once the cause of the alarm has been investigated and removed, press the SYSTEM ACCESS
pushbutton, enter the user code (3456) and then press the RESET pushbutton causing all detectors
and zones in alarm to be reset and the controller to return to the quiescent condition.
3.8 LAMP TEST
A lamp test may be carried out at Access level-1 by pressing and holding the CURSOR LEFT and
CURSOR RIGHT pushbuttons, the following will happen:
The internal sounder will operate continuously until the pushbuttons are released.
All LEDs light continuously until the pushbuttons are released, except for the left-hand
yellow POWER LED, which remains OFF.
The display shows two rows of black cursor blocks for each, one for each character position.

3.9 FIRE ALARM/FAULT DIAGNOSIS FLOWCHART
General
Fault finding on the T1000 Marine Fire Detection System is done using the Fault Screen. When a zone
fault is detected the FAULT WARNING LED will flash and the fault sounder operates.
3.9.1 ZONE FAULTS
Any zone going into a fault condition, ie short circuit, open circuit or detector removed, causes the
controller sounder to activate in the fault mode, the FAULT WARNING LED to flash, the relevant zone
PIXEL and MESSAGE on the FAULT screen to indicate and the common Fault output to be activated.
To accept the alarm, proceed as follows:
1) Press the SYSTEM ACCESS pushbutton, enter the user code (3456) and press the
ACCEPT pushbutton. This silences the internal sounder and causes the FAULT
WARNING LED to change from flashing to lit steady. At this stage, should a further fault
occur, the controller sounder is again activated in the fault mode and the FAULT
WARNING LED again flashes.
Note: Faults are latched until the controller is reset. (Operation of the reset control whilst a fault
condition prevails causes the audible and visual indicators to be re-activated).

ANNEX A - REPEATER OPERATION
1. INTRODUCTION
A repeater panel has the same facia, indicators and controls as a T1000 Marine controller. The controller
transmits the following conditions to a repeater(s):
1) Zone in Alarm Level-l / Alarm Level-2 / Fault
2) Zone disabled
3) Supervised output in fault.
4) Panel accepted
5) Field silenced
6) Output disabled
7) Panel reset
8) System faults
9) Zone in test
10) Day / Night changes (not used in Marine configuration)
11) Evacuate condition
These conditions will be sent to all repeaters that the controller recognises. If the controller does not
receive an acknowledgement from a repeater, it will enter a fault condition displaying the ID of that
repeater, the fault state will also be transmitted to all remaining repeaters.
A repeater also allows the following operations to be carried out as if entered at the controller:
1) Zone disabled
2) Supervised output in fault.
3) Panel accepted
4) Field silenced

7) System faults
8) Zone in test
9) Day / Night changes (not used in Marine configuration)
10) Evacuate condition
If no acknowledgement is received from the controller, a local fault is generated at the repeater
Refer to the controller operating instructions.
2. FAULT REPORTING
2.1 ZONE FAULTS
Zone faults can only occur at the master controller and will be displayed at the master controller then
transmitted to the repeater panels for display. At the master controller, fault diagnostics can be used to
interrogate the zone, display the analogue values and identify the fault. At the repeater panel, fault
diagnostics can be used to interrogate the zone and identify the fault. The zone analogue values will not
be displayed.
2.2 OUTPUT FAULTS
Outputs of each repeater panel are controlled by the cause and effect software in that repeater panel. An
output fault will be displayed locally and fault diagnostics can be used to interrogate the output, display
the analogue values and identify the fault. All other panels will indicate a remote panel fault and the
panel ID
2.3 SYSTEM FAULTS
All system faults will be displayed locally and fault diagnostics can be used to interrogate the fault,
display the analogue values and identify the fault. All other panels will indicate a remote panel fault and
the panel ID
2.4 COMMUNICATION FAULTS
2.4.1 REPEATER FAILS TO RECEIVE AN ACKNOWLEDGEMENT FROM THE MASTER PANEL
In this instance, after a timeout of 60 seconds the slave panel enters a fault state locally and indicates that
a communication failure occurred.
2.4.2 MASTER FAILS TO RECEIVE AN ACKNOWLEDGEMENT FROM A REPEATER PANEL
The master panel enters a fault condition displaying the ID of the offending repeater panel. The Fault
State and ID of the panel are transmitted to all remaining repeater panels on the system.
