Information: Tokugawa Ieyasu was the founder and
the rst shogun of the Tokugawa Shogunate Japan,
which existed form the battle of Sekigahara (1603) to
Meiji Restoration (1868). The Tokugawa live in and
around Edo castle which also came up with the name
the Edo period.

Ieyasu rose to power in 1600 and
received the title shogun in
1603. Abdicated in from ofce in
1606 but remained with some
power until his death in 1616.
