Using transitional words can change the effect of the writing. Look at the following sentences:
Joey and Jose wanted to go to the circus.
They left school.
These sentences could be connected with a transitional words.
1. Joey and Jose wanted to go to the circus; therefore, they left school.

Transitional connect words and sentences to create a smoother style of writing. The following
are some transitional words: also, although, consequently, finally, furthermore, however,
instead, meanwhile, nevertheless, otherwise, similarly, still, then, therefore.
I. Use the transitional in the preceding list to join the pairs of sentences that follow:
1. We trekked through the jungle for four days. We arrived at the village.
2. She had studied the piano for many years. She never got over her fear of playing for an
audience.

week.
