PROCEDURE FOR INSTRUMENT HANDLING &TRANSPORTAION

PURPOSE
The purpose is to maintain safe handling, storage, use and planned maintenance of measuring equipment to ensure
proper functioning.

RESPONSIBILITY
The Quality cum Technical Manager is responsible for the implementation of this procedure.
PROCEDURE
1) Only authorized personnel are alloed to handle all the equipments as per the manufacture!s instructions
during their use.
") The logboo#s are #ept in a secure, accessible place in the laboratory. All information entered in logboo#
including condition of equipment, purpose, operated by, date etc.
$) %ach instrument has step&by&step operating instructions including starting and shutting don the
instrument. As addressed in manufacturer!s manuals or per laboratory procedure.
') (n the logboo#, equipment records containing) description of the instrument, critical accessories,
manufacturer!s name, type identi*cation and serial no. laboratory identi*cation no., equipment
manufacturer representati+e names and telephone numbers
,) %ach instrument has an established schedule specifying performance chec#s this performance chec#s ensure
the instrument is operating properly and consistently prior to analysis.
-) .erformance chec# include a description of the performance chec#, the date and analyst name, the
determined +alue compared to a target +alue or speci*cation.
/) 0or instrument performance chec#s here traceability to primary standards is needed, a certi*cate
establishing traceability or information about the properties or characteristics of the reference materials is
#ept on *le.
1) 2er+ice contract or in&house pre+enti+e maintenance is documented hich includes) description of the
maintenance, date it as done and name of the ser+ice representati+e and company.
3) (nstrument and equipment repairs are documented hich include) initials of the analyst, and the date the
problem as obser+ed, description of the problem, date and initials of the ser+ice representati+e performing
the repair, synopsis of repair.
14) 2afe transportation of equipments is ensured by proper pac#ing, personnel care etc.
11) 5here appropriate a pre+enti+e plan for maintenance is prepared as per the manufacturer!s instructions and
same is recorded in 6ist of Master %quipment 7,.,0&41) and intermediate chec# record
