Job Outlook
The BLS expects employment for psychologists to grow by 22 percent
through 2020. In this relatively large field, the 22-percent growth rate
equates to the creation of almost 34,000 new jobs
What do they make?
According the U.S. Department of
Labor the median salary is $64,000 a
year, the low being $37,900 and the
high being almost 150,000

How much do they work?
A child may have to adjust their
schedule in order to work weekends
and evening hours in order to
accommodate parents schedules.
In a normal office your hours might
be anywhere from 8am-5pm Mon.-
Fri. or in a private practice it may be
whatever you choose.

What do they do?
A child psychologist works with children to overcome problems.
They can work with children who have been abused, who are
mentally challenged, violent, autistic, or children that have
social issues such as shyness or anxiety. A child psychologist
has to be compassionate, patient, and understanding in order to
accomplish the goal of helping the child. They will work with the
child and the childs guardian in order to find a treatment plan
that works for them.
What is the job like?
The job of a child psychologist is not always an easy one. They
have to manage to help the child with their issues without
getting to emotionally attached to the situation. They are
required to listen without judgment, and to make decisions that
can affect the child for the rest of their life. It is a very difficult
but rewarding career. It takes a strong person to become a
child psychologist.
What is the required schooling/ training?

To become a child psychologist you will need to complete many
years of schooling and real world training. This includes
obtaining a Bachelors Degree, a Masters Degree, and a
Doctorate degree. After you achieve getting your doctorate
many programs require a year of a closely supervised
internship.
