Stress and Stress Management Distress bad stress Causes anxiety, feels unpleasant, can lead to mental or physical problems (Mills, Reiss, & Dombeck). Eustress good stress Feels exciting, provides energy, improves performance (Mills, Reiss, & Dombeck) Dad deploying to Middle East, or going on training missions Dad returning from deployments, or trainings Breaking a body part My sisters births Not getting an assignment for school done in time Going to Nashville or fun places My younger sisters having a temper tantrum and I dont know how to help them calm down. Birthdays, Holidays, and vacations Not doing well on a test or assignment Visits from family members and friends Hard Tests Easy Tests Moving because of the Army Moving to Hawaii!!!! Or England!!!! Sick family or friends Being unprepared Not keeping to a schedule, or not knowing a schedule
Messes (clutter, dust, dirt, unfolded clothes) Too much to do in a day Learning to drive the car STRESS AND STRESS MANAGEMENT 3
How I handle stress: 1. Get a good nights sleep 2. Read a book 3. Watch my favorite TV shows (Sherlock, Doctor Who, Red Dwarf, etc.) 4. Listen to music 5. Play music (piano, voice, etc.) 6. Go for a walk 7. Pet or play with my dog 8. Play video games 9. Take a shower or bubble bath 10. Go to the Spa 11. Baking 12. Drawing and artwork 13. Writing 14. Just getting outside (park, sunshine, etc.) 15. Cleaning
