What I Can Do

What did you feel like:

I feel overwhelmed, frustrated, and pressured at the same time by all of the things I have to do to get a good

grade, and I get worried that I won’t make a good grade in the class.

What were your thoughts:

I stopped making time for myself and stopped taking care of myself. I'm continually emptying myself from

schoolwork so that I submit it on time.

What did you do about it:

I learned that I am just as important as my schoolwork, and that if I stop functioning, how would I be

able to complete my assigned tasks? That is why I set aside some time for myself. I often deal with my stress

by eating something. Even if I’m not hungry, eating helps me cope. Also, I listen to music while doing my

school works. Music reduces my stress levels because it distracts me from thinking about it too much.

Listening to music may help me, but most of my friends find it unproductive to listen to music while doing

school works. I think some strategies are more effective in my stress level because they are things I like doing

and not something I’m obligated to do, like schoolwork. I also sit down and put my phone away, then I just

work on everything I can as efficiently as I can. Sometimes I take a 10 minutes break to take my mind off of

the work and to focus better later. Sometimes I ask my mom to sit down with me as moral support during

stressful times. Maybe taking a break helps me more than others because I know that I’ll go back to work,

whereas other people may get distracted and it stresses them out more. Not all strategies that work for others

work for me because everyone deals with stress differently. I have to find strategies that work specifically for

me.

What would you do differently in the future:

In the future, I will ensure that I am well aware of how to manage my stress when confronted with

stressful situations. Because stress has many negative consequences on my body, both physically, emotionally,

and mentally. I will take it easy and try not to do all the school works in one sitting.
