Topic outline:

Literacy: In this topic we


will be reading Tell Me A
Dragon and watching King
Jack and the Dragon. From
this we will be working on
character descriptions and
settings to improve our story
writing.
Mathematics: We will be
learning about place value,
addition and subtraction.
Also, we will be learning how
to count in 2s, 3s, 5s and
10s as well as recognising
odd and even numbers.
Topic: In Science we will be
experimenting to see which
materials are the best for
keeping a baby dragon warm. We
will be going on a fun trip to
Skipton Castle to help us
learn about who lives in a
castle and what it was like to
live in a castle. Following on
from this we will learn all
about Henry VII and his wives.

Check out the school
library if you need to!



Suggested visits:
Why not visit pets at home
and look at the bearded
dragons.
There is also a lovely castle
in Keighley called Cliffe
Castle or Skipton Castle
in Skipton. If you get the
chance to visit then please
take some pictures for us to
use in class.














Topic challenges:

create an information
book about castles prior
to the topic.

design your own castle.
3. We challenge you to
make some bonfire

Useful Information:

Please can you make sure your child
has a PE kit in school for their PE
lesson. They need a White T-shirt,
black shorts/leggings and indoor pumps

Homework will be given out on a Friday
and due in the following Wednesday.

















Reading:

Every child has an individual reading
book. When reading with your child,
you may want to ask them questions
similar to the following.
Fiction: What has happened in the
story so far? What do you predict will
happen? Which character is your
favourite and why? How do you think
this character feels and why?
Non-fiction: Can you tell me what you
have learned from reading this? Who
might read this book? Have you read a
book like this before?
