Rutherford Atom Model
The central part of an atom is its
nucleus. The nucleus is very small
in size and it has positive charge.
Negatively charged electrons
revolve around the nucleus at high
speed. Almost whole of an atom is
concentrated in the nucleus.
Rutherford faced difficulty in explaining the
difference in the total mass of the protons
and the total mass of the atom. He could not
state precisely the reason for this. But in the
1920s itself Rutherford had predicted the
presents of a neutral particle having mass
inside the nucleus

Bohr model
Bohr established that when
electrons revolves through certain
definite path around the nucleus it does
not suffer energy change he called these
paths orbits and definite number of
electron are included in each orbit. Each
of the orbit is specific energy level
In the Bohr model of the atom, energy
levels 1,2,3,4 and 5 are represented by
the letters K,L,M,N and O respectively.
Later, these energy levels known as
shells
