Prime movers for automotive applications; Powertrain components; Power
generation characteristics of internal combustion engines; Engine
dynamics; Design and structural analysis of engine components; Vehicle
longitudinal dynamics, Clutch fundamentals, Different type of clutches;
Vehicle Transmission Systems: Basic Design Principles, Automatic and
manual transmissions, Matching Engine and Transmission, Gear-shifting
Mechanisms; Electronic Transmission Control; Driveline Systems and
Vehicle Performance, Front, Rear and all-wheel drivelines; Suspension

Assignments
Assignments based on course content will be uploaded on course
website time to time .
Students are expected to solve all the problems.
Some of the problems will be discussed in Tutorial Class. ( Not All the
problems)
Some of the Assignment problems will be directly asked in MID &
END Semester Exams.
Students are not expected to submit the assignments.

Term Paper/ Term Project/ Summary Assignment
Students can choose a topic relevant to course content for term paper.
In case you are not able to decide the topic then discuss with instructor.
Instructor will approve the topic of study for each student/groups.
Reflect on chosen topic of interest and critically question why and how?
Summarize the relevant
methods/models/formulations/arguments/theories in the published
literature of your topic of interest.
Basic reading material is provided by instructor and you can search for
more literature on topic.
Write in your own language with proper citation of reference work.
(Minimum two A4 pages excluding references).

Grading
Mid Semester Exam = 25%
Final Exam = 45%
Term Paper/ Summary Assignment =10 %
Quiz (4) = 20% ( ONLY ONE Announced Quiz)
Minimum Pass Marks for Course = 30%
Minimum Pass Attendance = 75% (including medical)
