My Philosophy
All students are capable of learning if given the
right support (at school and home) and tools

Learning needs to be relevant, engaging and fun

Learning needs to be a combination of hands-on learning,
exploration, inquiry and skills practice

A growth mindset (from the teacher, parents and students)
helps promote learning

A partnership between the teacher, parents and
students is crucial for success

EQAO - A Brief Outline
WHO? All Grade 3, 6, and 10 students, across Ontario.

WHAT? A series of Language and Math based standardized tests that
look at a students performance in various categories of assessment.
(i.e., reasoning, inferring, direct text management).

WHY? The government requires all students to write these tests, in order
to gain an understanding of how Ontario pupils are performing
academically. The data is used to shape and benefit future
Provincial Curriculum. Individual schools can use the data to focus on
specific needs in a community/grade level.

EQAO - A Brief Outline continued
WHERE and WHEN? Testing takes place during a week in May or June, in
the students own classroom (unless special arrangements have
been made).

I will keep you updated as to the dates for
our class.
