The Riverside Police Department recently completed a railroad safety initiative at the Longcommon Road train crossing. Over 500 pamphlets and safety reminders were handed out to motorists and pedestrians in September 2014 to educate them on proper use of railroad crossings and dangers of disobeying warning signals. Three motorists were cited for disobeying activated crossing signals, indicating an approaching train. The police message is to look, listen, and live when crossing signals are activated, as disobeying warnings could cost one's life.

The Riverside Police recently completed a regional railroad safety detail at the Longcommon Road train crossing. In September of 2014 officers handed out over 500 pamphlets and train safety reminders to motorists and pedestrians at the Longcommon Road train crossing. Our goal was to educate motorists and pedestrians on the proper use of railroad crossings and the dangers associated when they violate warning lights, bells and whistles of oncoming trains. Three motorists cited for obedience to signal indicting approach of train. Our message is simple, said Sgt. Leo Kotor when you see the train gates and lights activated at any train crossing or you hear the bells and whistles at a crossing, Look, Listen and you will Live. Dont take the gamble and disobey the warnings, it may cost you your life. EWS RELEASE RIVERSIDE POLICE DEPARTMENT 31 Riverside Road, Riverside, IL 60546
