YOU AT OUR BBQ AND
CURRICULUM NIGHT.
LITERACY
In September we worked on the comprehension
strategy of text to self-connections. This month
we will be moving on to text-to-text connections
and understanding how texts are related. Our
first form of writing is a recount. Recounts
describe an event that we have experienced. The
key parts of a recount are transitions/time clue
words, the 5 Ws (who, what, where, when, why),
descriptive words and are written in the past
tense. You can help you child to practice
recounts at home by writing about an event such
as karate lesson.
SOCIAL STUDIES
We are continuing our studies of traditions and
celebrations. If you have any items (books, videos)
related to a tradition or a celebration that you would
like to share we would be grateful. As your family
participates in celebrations in the month of
October, please discuss them with your child.

As the wet fall weather approaches please consider having your child bring an extra pair of shoes to
keep our classroom dry and safe.

Whats the Matter?
Our budding scientist will be continuing to
investigating the different properties of matter
(liquids, solids and gases). We will be doing

including experiments and hands on activities.
