Handwriting: Through our writing time each day, everyone had blossomed into authors! We are currently working on illustrating our writing pieces. We are making sure to match the pictures to the words. Language Skills: This next unit focuses on comparison words and feelings. We will use interactive lessons to learn the meanings of each new word. We will also use illustrations to show we understand the meaning of the feeling words. Literature and Comprehension: Through our next unit we will be practicing sequencing events using the words before, beginning, middle, after, end, next, and last. We will also finding the moral or lesson in each of our next stories. We will also be learning how to support conclusion by using clues in text, illustrations and our prior knowledge. Phonics: We have just finished learning about short vowel sounds. Next we will learn about and practice digraphs th and sh. Next, we will practice short vowels and digraphs together. Math: Over this next week we will be finishing up learning strategies for subtraction. Next we will be applying our addition and subtraction knowledge to word and story problems. We will also be practicing counting by tens! Science: In our next unit will be learning all about planet earth! We will learn about different landforms and parts of the earth and also see what makes up the earths surface. Then, we will see different ways we can help take care of our earth and stop pollution! Art: We will be focusing on symbols of the United States and art that was created in the United States. Social Studies: This unit will focus on different kinds of work.
