MATH Students will be able to order, place and compare fractions. Strategies to use:

SCIENCE In Science, students are learning about the different weather conditions and tools used to measure weather. Some topics include: Water Cycle Climate Thermometer Anemometer

Fraction strips Fraction cubes Fraction circles Number lines

Questions to guide your child at home: Which strategy did you use to find the answer? How do you know that ___ is less than ____? How do you know that ____ is equal to ____? How do you know that ____ is greater than ___?

READING/WRITING In Reading, students are reading Greek myths and fantasies. While reading student will be able to: Read a variety of literature to identify the characteristics of myths and fantasies. Use background knowledge and information from literature (myths and fantasies) to make inferences. Describe characters in depth using support from the text. What does the character say? What does the character do? Explain how a setting can affect a characters actions. compare the same theme within different stories. In Writing, students are creating a newsletter informing a chosen audience on a weather topic they are learning about in Science. Students have been researching their topics with a partner and are going to create a final draft newsletter with graphics.

SOCIAL STUDIES

In Social Studies, students are researching historical investigations such as, early European settlements. Students are looking closely at interactions among Africans, Europeans, and Native Americans.

*** REMINDER: Students are expected to: Read for at least 20 minutes each night and complete a journal entry. Complete the math calendar daily problem. Complete the weekly review packet.
