This was run by Bury People First

and Mencap. Fifteen people came
to our workshop.

A Parliament Outreach Officer
came to talk with us. His name was
Gary Hart

Gary told us about how Parliament
and the Government works.

We watched a video about:
Political parties
How a party gets to be in
government
What a Government does
About the Treasury and things
to do with money

We did a role play. Julie Howarth
was voted as Prime Minister. Julie
then chose her cabinet of ministers.
Chris Blunt was Secretary for
Works and Pensions
Mandy Rigby was Secretary
for Transport
Gwyn Jones was Secretary for
Health

Then people asked us questions
about how we were going to run
the country
We provided lunch for everyone
who came.

After lunch we talked some more
about political parties with Ian
Winstanley from Mencap.

Then we had a quiz. We had to say
who the leaders of the different
parties were. Also which colours
and rosettes belonged to which
party.

We wrote down what we change to
make things better.

Then we did a mock up of Question
Time. Christopher Blunt played the
role of David Dimbleby. Chris
Sullivan and Ian Winstanley were
representatives of political parties.
People asked them questions about
what they would do if they were
voted into government.

Then we had a vote to say who we
wanted to run the country.
