PREFACE
$he 'ie*d o' computer education has witnessed a
sea change since the disco+ery o' simp*e ca*cu*ating
machine ,y 10ARL#% BABA"#. $he era is
con'ronting with the speed and mind o' computer. i.e.
the speed and inte**igence ha+e ,ecome +ita*. At one
end they are competing with each other. !ot on*y these
computers ha+e immense*y ,ene'ited the mankind in
the 'ie*d o' p*anning. $he whee* o' progress is ro**ing
with much 'aster speed then it used to ,e a decade ago2
thank to the re+o*ution ushered in ,y computer. But a**
this ha+en)t come as easy as it appears to ,e rather it
re3uires p*anning strategy and a *ot o' ,rain storming
,e'ore a package is de+e*oped or a *anguage is ,orn.
%ince the prime task o' the computer is to process a
raw data into use'u* in'ormation. we can ignore the

ABSTRACT

manua* system is too comp*ex and cum,ersome. %ince
time and resources a+ai*a,*e we ha+e ,een proposed to
de+e*op an in+entory system.
A** the outset the app*ication re3uirements were
studied and ana*ysis and design were carried out. $he
de+e*opment p*at'orm and so'tware too* were identi'ied
as 4isua* Basic 5.6 7As -ront8#nd9 and Access 7As
Back8#nd9 data,ase. :sing +isua* programming. o,ject
are manipu*ated direct*y and a*so due to the 'eature o'
'ast and easy prototyping and ":I ,ui*ding +isua* ,asic
5.6 as used.
In the system ana*ysis and design part. data is
processed using 3uery techni3ues and study o' the
existing system.

de+e*oped *ike master menu. transaction menu. report
generation. uti*ity etc.
