President Maureen Moffet welcomed everyone to the October meeting. She thanked Helen Henderson for the beautiful fall decorations and Lois Quillin. There were 15 members in attendance. Many were unable to attend due to Fall Festivals and other prior commitments. The Thought of the Day was given by Amy Sallee. She shared a beautiful true story that highlighted encouragement in teaching, challenged us to accent the positive in our students and have a blue kind of day! The program for this meeting involved a trip to the tunnel. Bill Caywood and Lowell Fowler, guides from Natural Tunnel State Park, transported us to the base of the tunnel where we discovered the history and beauty of Natural Tunnel. We were able to ride the chairlift and dodge the rain while Mr. Caywood explained how the tunnel was formed and the history surrounding this beautiful state park. President Maureen Moffet then called the business meeting to order. Since there was not a quorum, no official business could be conducted. The minutes of the September meeting had previously been sent electronically to members. They were approved with corrections. Brenda Bingham presented the Treasurers Report, stating that soon much of the money would be distributed to state and national organizations. As of September 30, 2014 the checking account balance was $7028.60 and the savings accounts ending balance was $1097.37. Total disbursements for the month of September totaled $173.92.
