The Presidents Perspective

I hope that everyone has had a relaxing and restful summer and is ready
to gear up for a new year. I find that even though I am retired from
teaching, I still order my life according to the school calendar. There is an
excitement about the hustle and bustle of getting classrooms organized
and meeting a new class of students.

After attending the state convention at the end of April, I am excited to

begin another year in the life of our chapter. The Executive Board has
been busy over the summer planning a year that includes some old
favorites and some new opportunities. We hope that everyone will find
something to cheer about in Alpha Zeta this year. In addition to meeting at
some of our favorite places, we have some new ones to explore, including
the Abingdon Vineyard & Winery, the Bristol Public Library, and the
Birthplace of Country Music Museum.

We have planned a mix of programs to address many of the personal and

professional goals of DKG. These programs include a local author, the
new Uniserv director, and a visit from one of our new state officers who
will lead us in chair yoga.
We want to focus on outreach this year. We want to make our name
known in the schools and in the community. We want educators in our
area to learn how we can be a support to them and how they could
contribute to our chapter as members. Delta Kappa Gamma and Alpha
Zeta have much to offer, and we want others to know what we are about
and why we are an important, worthwhile organization.
