Matthew 22:34-40

This Sunday Gospel tells us to love God above all and that we should also love one
another as human beings.

Jesus summarized the Ten Commandments into two: one, You shall love the Lord, your
God, with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind, and You shall love your
neighbor as yourself. These two commandments govern all laws. By loving God, we can say
that we fear Him. Because when we love someone, were afraid of breaking his or her trust and
were afraid to be apart with that beloved one. Loving God means paying due respect and
fulfilling our spiritual obligations. If we love Him, then we fear to do evil things.

If we love our neighbors, then we shall not commit sin against them. We will not inflict
physical, emotional or mental pain upon them. We will love them as we love ourselves. We will
treat them as our co-equal. We will regard other people as our sisters and brothers because we
are really from one parent, from one Holy FatherGod.

Loving God and our neighbors is the perfect and easiest way to obtain salvation. If we
love God, then we will not be tempted to do evil things because it would hurt Him. If we love
our neighbors, then we will only do good to them. Love promotes a harmonious spiritual life.
Love is the greatest and strongest foundation of Gods grace and mercy in this world.
