This document provides instructions for a midterm exam on VLSI system design. Students are asked to:
1) Create a complete RTL model of a serial cordic circuit containing a quadrant detector, cordic core, normalization, and quadrant adjustment blocks.
2) Design a 16-bit datapath and 16-state controller for the cordic block, including reset.
3) Test cosine, sine, and conversion between polar and cartesian coordinates. Verify the RTL simulation matches a reference model.
Students must individually submit a report in the homework format, with source codes in an appendix, to a provided email address before the due date.

Midterm Exam EL-4138 VLSI System Design Due November 01, 2014 12.00 WIB
1. Make a complete RTL of serial cordic
Quadrant Detector Cordic Core Normalization Quadrant Adjustment ROM arc tan
2. The block contains a) Datapath (16 bit) 16 bit data represented by 1 sign, 2 integer, and 13 fractional. b) Controller (16 state) c) Reset
3. For testing purpose, show the function of cos, sin! Pi -> cartesian, cartesian -> polar. To make sure its correctness, compare the RTL simulation result with its reference model.
Note: This is individual exam. The report document follows the homework format. All the source codes included in the appendix. Submit the document to paumeitb@gmail.com before due date.
