Teacher: Ms. McKevie
Unit Name: Review for Benchmark testing
Lesson Title: Multiplying 2-digit numbers
Grade Level: 5th grade
Standards
CCSS:
CCSS.Math.Content.4.NBT.B.5
Multiply a whole number of up
to four digits by a one-digit
whole number, and multiply
two two-digit numbers, using
strategies based on place value
and the properties of
operations. Illustrate and
explain the calculation by using
equations, rectangular arrays,
and/or area models.

Objective(s)
Students will be able
to find the product of
2-digit multiplicands by
2-digit multipliers using
the multiplication
process.

Assessment
1. During the
lesson students
will be assessed
through
observation.
2. At the end of the
unit students will
complete an exit
slip that will be
assessed.
(Students will be
provided with
constructive
feedback)

Materials and Resources:

PowerPoint (InterWrite Board)
White boards
Dry erase markers
Exit slips
Lesson Introduction
*How will you engage your
students in the topic?

Good morning everyone, today we are going to

review multiplying 2-digit numbers by 2-digits.
After we review together I would like for each of
you to practice using your whiteboards.
There will be an exit slip at the end so be sure to
pay close attention as we work together.

Procedure
*Be specific give step-bystep instructions

1. Using the PowerPoint I will review the steps of

the multiplication process.
2. Then in small groups the students will solve
three different problems on their dry erase

boards the display them to the class.
3. After each problem, we will go over the
process and the answer as a class.

Lesson Closure
*How will you summarize the
lesson?

Each student will complete an exit slip

individually.
(I will access and provide feedback)
