IV - FIRST AID MEASURES

CONTACT WITH SKIN
Take off contaminated clothing and shoes. Wash immediately with plenty of water.
CONTACT WITH EYES
Rinse immediately with plenty of water for approximately 15 minutes.
In case of pain, redness, local oedema, visual discomfort or doubt, call an ophthalmologist.
INHALATION
Theoretically, not applicable. Under abnormal conditions of use causing considerable inhalation, remove the casualty from
the contaminated area, let him take a rest in a well-ventilated room and seek medical advice. Do an ocular and cutaneous
decontamination. In case of massive inhalation, hospitalize the person. A supervision of the effects may be necessary.
INGESTION
Do not give anything to drink, do not induce vomiting. Call immediately the medical service. It is advisable to hospitalize the
person.
PROTECTION OF THE FIRST-AIDERS
According to the situation, wear protective clothes, glasses or masks Wear at least gloves.
________________________________________________________________________________________________
V - FIRE-FIGHTING MEASURES
SUITABLE EXTINGUISHING MEDIA
Dry ice, powders, foam.
EXTINGUISHING MEDIA WHICH MUST NOT BE USED
No.
SPECIFIC HAZARDS
Avoid contact with powerful oxidizing agents and acidic products.
Prevent any material from entering drains or waterways.
Concerning pure ethylenediamine:
- Flash point: 38C (DIN 51755)
- Boiling point: 117-118C at atmospheric pressure,
- Ignition temperature: 405C (DIN 51794)
Dangerous thermal decomposition products: notably emission of ammonia, of nitrogen oxides and carbon oxides.
PROTECTION OF THE FIRE-FIGHTERS
Because of the substances that are produced during thermal decomposition, use approved self-contained breathing
equipment and protective clothing in case of intervention.
________________________________________________________________________________________________
VI - ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES
PERSONAL PRECAUTIONS
Avoid contact with the skin, the clothes and the eyes: wear at least gloves, glasses and if needed a FFP3 mask.
Dispose of all contaminated clothing or shoes and wash thoroughly with water.
ENVIRONMENTAL PRECAUTIONS
Do not allow the product to be thrown away. Recover as much as possible for processing within the firm or by an approved
centre.
METHODS FOR CLEANING UP
With water to remove all non-recoverable product. Check the pH is between 5.5 and 8.5.
________________________________________________________________________________________________
VII - HANDLING AND STORAGE
HANDLING
Use as supplied. Close containers (in PE) tightly after use with the original cap. Do not re-use containers with another
product.
STORAGE
Store away from powerful oxidizing or acidic agents. Keep in original containers only, in a room at 5-30C. The maximum
recommended shelf life is three years from the date of manufacture under normal conditions of storage.
________________________________________________________________________________________________
VIII - EXPOSURE CONTROLS / PERSONAL PROTECTION
EXPOSURE CONTROLS
TECHNICAL MEASURES
No drinking, eating or smoking on the workplace.
It is important to protect its respiratory system and to avoid contact with skin.

During brush electrolysis, as this product is low concentrated and used at ambient temperature during a short time, it does
not seem very useful to perform checks of atmosphere, except in case of large parts or of continuous use. However, it is
recommended to measure it once in the harder conditions of work and periodically after if necessary.
Maintain the premises and the work stations in perfect state of cleanliness.

PERSONAL PROTECTION
Provide a shower, a powerful tap and sink unit and an eye basin in the vicinity of the work place.
- Respiratory protection: during brush plating, provide if possible an inhaling of the sprays / vapours where they are created
and extraction out of the premises. Otherwise or if insufficient, wear in a ventilated room a filtering FFP3 mask according to
EN 149:2001 standard or an A2P3 cartridge according to EN 405:2002 standard.
- Hand protection: wear imperatively gloves (in latex or nitrile for example).
