o Geometry and Measurement:
(C) classify and sort polygons with 12 or fewer sides according to attributes, including identifying the number
of sides and number of vertices

o Geometry and Measurement:

(B) describe the inverse relationship between the size of the unit and the number of units needed to equal the
length of an object
(C) represent whole numbers as distances from any given location on a number line

When moving a shape into a different position but keeping the shape
with the same length, vertices, size, area and angles.
There are three types of transformations:
1) Translation
2) Reflection
3) Rotation

Example
A transformation can be made by flipping, sliding
or turning the shape
This is an example of a
(rotational) transformation

The act of sliding a shape from one place

to another place without making any
changes to the shape

Example
A translation can be made by sliding a shape.
The shape will need to move the same distance
and direction.

Reflection
It is when you flip a shape across a
line without changing its size or
shape

A reflective image will always have the same shape once flipped,
it just faces the other way
Here is an example:

when a shape has the same distance from

every point to its center while turning the
shape towards a new position

Example
This shape is being turned around while
the point in the center remains the same
