MAXIMO INGRESSU

THE GRAND ENTRANCE

1
16"=1'

I was able to achieve a grand entrance for the

United States Post Office by extending the
facade of the post office to main street
Davidson. In addition to the facade, the
columns have been projected to help create a
strong grain dedicated to the front of the post
office. The use of water in the reflecting pool,
and in the ground paths, acts as a source of
curiosity and white noise.

DESIGN THEME DIAGRAMS

The center piece, being a

reflecting pool, that can
allow an inverse reflection
of the post office in the
black water, expressing the
fact that not only does the
post office has a physical
and meta-physical entity,
always working even when
we don't notice it, but also
we must look at what the
Postal Service has done for
all of us, helping shape the
country we all call home.

of the post office, not
only with extruded
columns, but also with
the use of materials.
The red brick that
builds the walls of the
post office, while the
white concrete on the
post office is reiterated
on the grounds of the
waterways and the
reflecting/wading pool.

Maximo Ingressu
derives its material
usage as a way to pay
homage to the context
and historical district,
while also using the
post office as an
inspiration.
Continuing the red
brick pattern on the
ground plan ties the
site to Davidson, as
an accessible path. As
for the mimicry of the
facade of the post
office, the waterways
are held inside of
white concrete.
