Executive Summary
I will write a manual that will provide an introduction to Hispanic culture in the United States.
The manual will portray how the Hispanic culture has been adapted to survive in a country where
the Hispanic community has become even more dominant. I propose to write a manual that will
provide a brief overview and explanation of the Hispanic culture in the United States. I am
qualified to write this manual because I have the passion to not only showcase the culture I grew
up with, but also allow others to experience a traditions that have shaped the way of living in
other Spanish-speaking countries around the world and how these same customs have influenced
the United States. The budget for this manual will be only my time which I approximate to be a
week.

Introduction
The manual will portray how the Hispanic culture has been adapted to survive in a country where
the Hispanic community has become even more dominant. The manual will explain several
traditions of the Hispanic culture, so that non-Hispanic or even those individuals who would like
to know more about their culture could understand the reasoning behind different customs. The
manual will also address some of the biggest difference in the Hispanic culture in the United
States and the culture in Latin America and Mexico to give an overall view of the subject.

Opportunity Definition
Through the manual, I will give the opportunity for other individuals to learn about an important
culture that has taken roots in the United States. Furthermore, the manual will serve as a guide
for individuals who are interested in knowing more about several traditions of the Hispanic
culture.
Although there are many publications regarding the history of different cultures, the manual will
be written in way in which other people inexperienced in the subject understand the reasons
behind different traditions.

Propose Solution
I propose to write a manual that will provide a brief overview and explanation of the Hispanic
culture in the United States. My manual will allow non-Hispanic individuals to get a brief
introduction to the traditions of Hispanics in the United States. In addition, the manual will also
serve as a comparison between the Hispanic culture in Spanish-speaking countries and that in the
United States.

Introduction:
The manual will begin with an introduction of what really means to be Hispanic, the
essence of Hispanic communities, and the several traditions that have been preserved for

decades. The manual will also help clarify some of the misunderstandings of the Hispanic
culture in order to provide for the reader a complete overview of the subject.
A brief history:
Unlike the introduction, in this section I will provide a small history background to
explain to the reader the differences between culture in the Spanish speaking countries
and in the United States. This section will also explain how the United States has shaped
Hispanic culture and traditions and the reasons for its introduction to the Englishspeaking country.
Traditions and more:
The manual will contain explanations regarding several traditions popular in the Hispanic
community. Each explanation will also provide a brief comparison to the traditions in
other Spanish-speaking countries and images to showcase the example.
Hispanics in DFW:
Since the manual will be written in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, the manual will also
provide several images showcasing the Hispanic culture around this same location.

Qualifications
I am qualified to write this manual because I have the passion to not only showcase the culture I
grew up with, but also allow others to experience traditions that have shaped the way of living in
other Spanish-speaking countries around the world and how these same customs have influenced
the United States. I believe that people should have the opportunity to learn about different
cultures in order to foster understanding among communities.

Budget
The budget for this manual will be only my time. I estimate that I will need approximately a
week to complete it. The breakdown of time is as follows:

Research (books, on-line, and relatives) -1 day.

Interviewing several Hispanic individuals from Hispanic concentrated counties in the
DWF area-2 days.
Taking pictures around the Hispanic populated areas-1 day.
Drafting the manual-1 day.

Conclusion
I appreciate the time taken to consider and read my proposal. I truly believe that the making of
this manual will give an opportunity for people (non-Hispanic and Hispanic alike) to understand
how the Hispanic culture has influenced not only those Hispanics living in the United States, but
entire communities. The manual will be a complete introduction of a now popular culture that
has taken roots in the United States and how its transition to a new country has changed it.
