Five Technical Terms and Definitions related to Career:

1. Computed Tomography (CT)- Provides cross-sectional views (slices) of the body; can
also reconstruct additional images from those taken to provide more information in either
2D or 3D
2. Diagnostic Radiography- Utilizes ionizing radiation in the examination of internal
organs, bones, cavities, and foreign objects
3. Inflammation- The protective response of body tissues to irritation or injury; signs
include redness, heat, swelling, and pain
4. Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)- Diagnostic radiologic modality, in which the
nuclei of the hydrogen atoms in a patient are aligned in a strong, uniform magnetic field,
absorb energy from tuned radio pulses, then emit radio signals
5. Greenstick Fracture- An incomplete fracture in which the bone is bent; most common
in children
