Pablo Picasso

Paul Ruiz Picasso (n. Malaga, Spain; on October 25, 1881 - f. Mougins, France; on April 8, 1973), known as
Paul Picasso, he was a painter and Spanish, creative sculptor, together with Georges Braque and Juan Gris,
of the movement cubist.
Considered one of the major artists of the 20th century, took part from the genesis of many artistic movements
that propagated for the world and exercised a great influence in other big artists of his time. Tireless and
prolific, it painted more than two thousand works nowadays present in museums and collections of the whole
Europe and of the world. In addition, it approached other kinds like the drawing, the engraving, the illustration
of books, the sculpture, the ceramics and the design of scenery and wardrobe for theatrical assemblies.

Guernica is Paul Picasso's famous picture, painted in May and June, 1937, which title alludes to
the bombardment of Guernica, happened on April 26 of the above mentioned year, during the Spanish Civil
war. It was realized by order of the Government of the Spanish Republic to be exposed in the Spanish pavilion
during the International Exhibition of 1937 in Paris, in order to attract the attention of the public towards the
republican reason in full Spanish Civil war.
