INTRODUCTION

BRIEF OVERVIEW
The

Time Gap Model is described as the

time distance that two vehicle need to
leave apart in order to prevent collision.
The shorter the Time Gaps the more
dangerous the situation

THE IMPORTANCE OF
RESEARCH

In order to avoid a crash, traditional vehicle collision avoidance

relies only on braking by the following vehicle. A crash cannot be
avoided by the following vehicle braking, if the distance between
the two vehicles is insufficient. Different from the time-headway
and traditional braking models, this research introduce model that
takes the relative movement status of the front and back cars into
consideration and derives a Time Gaps Model which is more
practical and effective. To solve the problem, this research
proposed the Time Gaps Model based on vehicle-to-vehicle
communication, which can help collision avoidance in the situation
of insufficient distance between two vehicles through safe time
gap model between vehicles, which cooperative with driver
reaction time and inter vehicle communication delay. This research
also explore the needed of the Time Gaps model during VANET
clustering formation and VANET safety message dissemination.

RESEARCH OBJECTIVES
To

develop Time Gaps model algorithm to

provide reasonable safe distance time
settings which has the capability of
avoiding collisions

This research also explore the needed of

the Time Gaps model during vanet
clustering

RESEARCH SCOPES

LITERATURE REVIEW
In

collision avoidance control, the control

objective is normally to apply an
emergency brake when the distance
between two vehicles is less than the safe
distance (Kim et al 2007)
