Topic: Genetics
Audience: 8th grade
Webquest ID: #240297
Summary:
This webquest gives a helpful round-up of review activities for students to check their
understanding of the units material in order to identify any weak spots before the exam.
It has both writing activities, interactive labs, and vocabulary review. The topics covered
are Punnet Squares, Dihybrid crosses, and pedigrees. Skills required to complete some
of the activities are used again in other topic for reinforcement.
Activities:
For pedigrees students get to construct one of their own tracking the inheritance of one
of two traits through the generations. The dihybrid cross problem set has tutorials,
vocabulary glossaries, and a quiz that tells students if they got an answer right or
wrong.
The Punnet Square activity is an interactive lab journal where they complete an
experiment crossing flies and respond to some journal questions that test their
understanding of possible Punnet square variations.
