Mini Lesson Planning Tool for Integrating Technology

Title of Lesson: Conversacin con la Computadora


Curriculum / Content Area: Spanish
Grade Level: High School Spanish 1
PURPOSE / OBJECTIVES:
The purpose of this lesson is to give students the opportunity to review the material they are
currently studying by practicing their Spanish speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills
through the use of various tools/websites on the computer.
CURRICULUM STANDARDS:
Technology Standard (ALEX):
13.) Demonstrate collaborative skills using curriculum-related content in digital environments.
Foreign Language Standard (ALEX):
2.) Interpret basic oral and written information in the target language on a variety of topics in
the present time frame.
ACTIVITIES:
Spanish conversation with a partner using the headsets in the computer lab
Grammar activities on the Conjuguemos website (individually completing activities)
Vocabulary practice using Quizlet (individually creating online flashcards)

1. Do I know how to use the technology tool(s) that will be used by my students?
Yes, I know how to use the technology tools that the students will be using; I have had experience
working with and using each of these different tools.
2. What technology skills do my students already have that are needed for this lesson?
My students already have the skills to operate the computer headsets, and they also have the
skills to navigate the Conjuguemos and Quizlet websites.
3. What technology skills will they need to learn to complete this lesson successfully?
The students will need to learn how to insert accent marks using a PC computer keyboard. Most
of the students use Mac computers at home, so they will need to learn how to insert accent marks
on the computers in the lab in order to accurately complete the activities on the Conjuguemos
website.
4. What is the appropriate setting for this lesson (classroom, lab, library, home)? Is this
setting available for my students to use?
The appropriate setting for this lesson is the computer lab. This setting is available for the
students to use.
5. What tools and resources will I need? (List of all Web sites, specific software and hardware,
and other needs.)
Headsets, Sony listening software, access to Conjuguemos, access to Quizlet
6. How much time do I need to allow for this lesson?
I will need to allow an entire class period for this lesson (55 minutes).
7. Who can help me with the planning and/or implementation of this lesson?
The other Spanish teachers can help me with the planning of this lesson to ensure that the
activities and conversation accurately reflect the content being studied. The technology
supervisor can help me in the implementation of this lesson by ensuring ahead of time that the
headsets and computers are working properly.

8. How will I assess the students learning?


I will assess the students learning by walking around the room to listen to their conversations, by
grading their activities on Conjuguemos, and by checking the flashcards they create on Quizlet.
