Throughouttheworldwehaveseenhowunrightfullypeoplehavebeentreatedandthe
"freedom"thattheresupposetoreceiveisn'tthere.Whatwewouldfightforisthe
freedomofpeopleanyrace,socialstatusetc.toreceivehealthcare.Peopleareinneedof
healthcarebutaren'tabletoaffordit.Thehealthstatusofthesepeopledramatically
decreasesandastimegoesbymorepeopleareaffected.Notonlyisitastrugglewiththe
peoplebutalsoresearchersthataretryingtoprovidemedicalassistance.Healthcare
providerslackthefinancialandtechnicalresourcetoprovidehundredsoflivesthatneed
medicalhelp.

Mission/Goals:
ThemissionoftheIRCistobeabletohelpswithworldworsthumanitariancrisesand
helppeopletosurviveandrebuildtheirlives.Theymainlyfocusofrefugeewhoare
peoplethathavefledtheircountrybecauseofwarordisaster.

Programs/ServicesOffered:
TheIRChasvarietyofprogramthathelprefugeesbeabletorebuildtheirlives.Someof
theprogramsthattheyofferisemergencyresponse,healthcare,childrenandyouth,
governmentandprotectionofrights,refugeeresettlementetc.

VolunteerOpportunities:

 Thisorganizationhasover22officesaroundtheUnitedStateswhichoffervolunteer
opportunitiesfor18yearsandolder.Asavolunteeryouareabletomentorrefugee
familiesandindividuals,beingabletoassistrefugeeswithseekingjobsandinterview
skills,andlastlyhelpingtomaintainaNewRootgarden.Alongwithvolunteer
opportunitiesthereisalsointernships.Thereisunpaidinternshipsthatpeopleareableto
participatein.Theprocessissimilartotheoneofavolunteer,butinternsareabletowork
withcasemanagerstosupportarefugeefamily,helpingrefugeeyouthwitheducational
plans,andassistingwithrefugeehealth.

Reflection:
WhenworkingwiththeIRCwechosetolearnmoreaboutSouthSudanandhowhealthcarewas
affectingit.AfterbeingabletolearnmoreaboutthecrisishappeninginSouthSudanwewere
abletolearnmoreaboutthehealthcareaspectandhowdifficultitistobeabletoreceive
assistance.OnebigthingwelearnedaboutSouthSudanistheviolencethatishappeningthere
andhowmuchthisisaffectingthemfromreceivingassistance.
