A Night thats Worth Remembering
Im one of those people who never really goes out that much, but at the end of my senior
year in high school I knew I had to go to that one field trip almost every senior goes to, Grad
Night. This year, Sylmar High was holding Grad Night at Disneyland. To be honest, this was my
2nd time going to Disneyland.
On the day of the trip, it was Saturday, June 7th and I arrived in the front of the school at
2:45pm. Yeah it was pretty early for me to be there already, we didnt leave until 4:50, hell even
the buses werent at the school yet, but who cares this gave me enough time to go look for a
couple friends. The first person I met at school was a good friend of mine, andwell...my crush,
named Marissa. We chatted for a bit and said what we did after graduation until her bummer
boyfriend showed up. So I was all like, Lates, and said bye. Then I met up with my friend
Joey and his girl, Valerie. We talked and found out that we were all assigned the same bus,
Awesome. Finally all the busses showed up and we all lined up to board. While waiting, more
people I knew showed at the same bus: my friends Andres, Angel and her boyfriend, Javier.
Obviously the couples shared seats and I was sitting next to Andres. At last, we were finally
moving, a two hour bus ride to Disneyland; Time to take a nap, I thought.
We finally got there and walked to the front gates. At that point everyone went their
separate ways, even Andres ditched me. Oh well it wasnt so bad because again at that point my

other friend, also named Angel showed up with Tito and his girlfriend, Alice, and Jesus with his
girlfriend whose name I cant remember. Anyone notice a trend yet?
We all chatted about what weve been up to. Then we headed straight for our first ride,
the Matterhorn. We all got inside our seats waiting for the ride to start; lucky for me I was able to
sit by myself with everyone in front. It finally started and I had no idea what was going to
happen. It took us all the way to the top and it was a spiral with a couple turns down the
mountain. Wow that ride was freaking awesome; I almost wanted to go again, but we decided to
move on and head towards Buzz Lightyears ride, the Astro Blaster. We waited in line and it
took us a good 15 min. to get to the front. As we were all about to ride, an attendant came and
told us that the ride was having trouble running and told everyone to leave until it was fixed.
Man that was a total bummer. As we exited, we saw the holographic Buzz Lightyear animatronic
explaining what the ride is all about, and just before I left I screamed out, DAMN YOU TIM
ALLEN!! and everyone inside laughed.
After the bummer of a ride we missed, Tito and I bought some snacks. I bought a huge
churro and he got a giant pretzel for him and Alice. Soon after we finished, the entire crew
decided that we should all go to Toon Town. But alas, once we arrived the main ride in Toon
Town was also under technical difficulties. Sonofabitch, youve got to be kidding me!!...now
what!? I said. Jesus suggested as a joke that we should all go to the Its a Small World ride.
Every in unison said NOOOOPE!!
So after we left Toon Town, our time was sort of was limited and we all had no idea
where to go next. We walked around the park and stumbled upon the Pirates of the Caribbean
ride. Man the line to that ride was freaking crazy. It had us walking back and forth, up and down

and finally into the pirate themed house. Wow the line was insane but it was worth it. We then
boarded the boats and waited until everyone had their seats. Then we started moving. My god it
was unbelievably dark once the ride started, I couldnt see a thing. It was also moist and misty
because of the water around us. Then we stopped and Davy Jones showed up. I couldnt be
bothered to hear what he was saying, I was too busy talking and throwing water at Angel. Then
we continued. In my head I was thinking, Hmm this should be a nice cruise through the world
of Pirates of the Caribbean. Soon after that I heard screaming and the sound of a waterfall. The
freaking ride threw us curveball and made us go down a 50 ft. drop into the water. It was so
freaking dark inside I couldnt tell when the drop was going to happen, so yeahthat surprised
me.
After our exciting excursion with the Pirates ride, we all wanted to relax. So we went on
another cruise, this time it was the Jungle Cruise. As usual, the line was unbelievably long; this
time they had us going up and down stairs. Anyways, it was a relaxing time just seeing all the
fake animal robots and hearing the tour guide making very, very cheesy jokes. Im not going to
lie, I thought they were pretty funny; I even gave him applause at the endwell I was the only
one giving him applause, but hey I wasnt embarrassed I kept on clapping.
It was already getting late and we only had enough time to go on one last ride before we
had to leave. So to make it count, we all got in line for the Star Tours ride. I freaking love Star
Wars so I was really anxious to see how this ride played out. They made us sit inside this weird
box looking thing; it kinda looked like a theater almost. Then they told us to put on our 3D
glasses. I wasnt a huge fan of 3D so I was kinda skeptical. Boy was I wrong. When the ride
started it was like we were in space; the entire cabin where we were sitting started moving as if
we were in a space ship. It was rocking back and forth, side to side; it almost hurt my neck, but I

didnt care, this ride was freaking awesome. Sadly the ride had to end. So we passed the gift
shop and walked towards the front gates. We all had an incredible time at Disneyland Park, but
as time moves on, so did we and we all enjoyed the rest of our night leaving the park

What, you thought it was over?? Naw it was barley 10 oclock, we still had like 4 hours
left to have funin Adventure Park.
We finally made it through the front gates of Adventure Park, and not having been to
Disneyland in over 14 years, I was pretty sure I was not going to know s**t about this park. So to
get this so called after party started, we all went to Cars Land. Oh but low and behold, you
wouldnt guess what happened. Yup, the Radiator Springs Racers ride was also bustedlovely.
Nothing else left to do but to move on.
The next ride we headed towards, I was personally not looking forward to it. I dont like
heights and I dont like drops. The Tower of Terror was going to be my living nightmare. A
couple of my friends decided to lay low and not go. I was tempted to join them but I ended up
just shutting my mouth. So it ended up being me, Angel, Jesus, and Tito. The line was long, as
usual, but we made the best of it by playing reverse charades on Jesuss iPhone. Then the terror
was about to begin. We took our seats upon that dreaded elevator, buckled our seatbelts and
waited for it to start. The entire elevator shifted back and in an instance, took us all the way to
the top, then dropped us at an intense speed, pick us back up faster than usual and dropped us

again. It was literally the worst feeling I have ever had in my entire life. It felt like time had
stopped but we just kept falling and rising. I almost lost my beanie I was wearing when the ride
was going on. I honestly dont see myself ever going back on that freaking ride. When we left
the tower, we caught back up with the rest of the crew that didnt go. My legs were still shaking.
The next area we headed to was pretty weird, it was some kind of outside club with a DJ
and everything. It was called the Mad Hatters Tea Party. No lie there was hardly a dance floor
anymore because it was just full of people. Plus no one was able to dance, everyone just ended
up jumping up and down. Feeling really awkward about all of this I just decided wait for
everyone to finish.
After that supposed dance club, we were all starving. So one of my friends suggested
an Italian restaurant that they always go to whenever theyre in Adventure Park. When we
arrived, the restaurant was completely empty and all the food was almost gone. All they had left
was flat pizza, raviolis, pasta alfredo, and spaghetti. Angel and I got pasta alfredo and everyone
else got spaghetti. In my head I was thinking, This better taste good because this was freaking
expensive, as everything is in Disney Land. We all chowed down for about half an hour; the
food was pretty meh, but whatever, it managed to fill us up.
After chatting for a while and catching up, we all moved on to one of the last ride we
could go on until our night was over. We all chose as a group to go on Goofys Flight School. It
was roller coaster ride. We boarded our seats and surprisingly every person in our crew was able
to sit next to each other. Just like the Matterhorn, it was a quick fun ride, just a couple
corkscrews and downhill ramps. Sadly, that was our last ride of the night.

So to end off this awesome night, we all came together and watched the World of Color
performance. It was amazing just seeing all the lights being reflected off by the water. Not just
that but they also had flamethrowers for the performance. I dont know why but hey, it was
coolexcept for the part when they can almost burn off your eyebrows. I didnt care, I was glad
I decided to go on this trip, it was one of those few times that I was able to be happy
