pull out story elements and character traits
Instructional Objectives: Students will be able to identify character traits while summarizing a story.

Students will complete some individual activities through independent worksheets. Students will also have
experiences with cooperative learning working with groups to find some answers.

Students will complete a bell ringer work sheet to refresh
their memory over character traits.

I will help students refer back to the background knowledge and lessons we learned before
we begin our activity.
Modeling: (Reading) I will give examples of character traits from my favorite child hood
stories.

Guided Practice: Students will follow along with the story. We will discuss the characters
together before students write the character traits and their individual thoughts of them on
paper.
Independent Practice: Students will complete a work sheet with their own thoughts on
characters and their traits.
Lesson Closure: Students will put themselves in the characters shoes and explain what their
character traits would be if they were in the story.
Assessment Methods/Strategies: I would assess students by how well they did on their work
sheet. I would also give the students a ticket out of the door problem.
