Child's Developmental Progress

Childs Name:

Jasmin

Date of Conference:
Agency/Site:

11/19/2014
Siegrist 1 State Preschool

This form describes your child's developmental progress in achieving four broad desired results for all children:

Children are personally and socially competent

Children are effective learners
Children show physical and motor competence
Children are safe and healthy

Your child's strengths include...

Jasmin follows directions very well when told or asked by the teachers to do something. She shows a lot of
kindness towards the teachers as well as other classmates. She is very attentive during circle time when reading
a story and participates in answering questions that the teachers give. She enjoys playing in all areas in the
classroom including: dramatic play area, block area, art area, and the manipulative area. She creates very clear
drawing or art pieces and can have a conversation with the teachers about that particular piece. She knows her
numbers up to 30, her colors, and letters and what sounds they make. She can hold all writing materials properly,
showing her fine motor skills. She has excellent memorization skills where you can read her a story and she can
repeat it back to you. Jasmin has strong gross motor skills where she can climb on the playground structure,
swing by herself on a swing, and ride bikes with a lot of speed. She can control a conflict with others and
sometimes with a little assistance from a teacher. She also shows that she can classify certain objects by size,
shape, and amount.

Areas your child is currently working on include...

Jasmin is currently working on writing out her name. She knows how to spell it and can identify and write out a
few of the letters of her name. She is working on making different patterns and being able to add and subtract
small amounts. Lastly, she is working on identifying all the shapes. She tends to confuse them a bit.

We (teachers, caregivers, families) can help your child learn and develop in the program by...
We will be helping Jasmin by spending more time writing out her name like letting her write her name on her work
and bringing out things like whiteboards and chalkboards where there would be opportunities for her to write out
her name. We will be creating activities where the children have to make different patterns using shapes and
using manipulative toys that can be put into patterns. We can also incorporate books into our library that show
patterns and shapes. Reading a book about patterns and shapes can also enhance her knowledge on shapes
and patterns.

You can help your child learn and develop at home by...

You can help Jasmin at home by encouraging her to write out her name for you. You can use materials
like pastas and construction paper to create an in home activity where she can create patterns for you.
Naming shapes using items at home that look like a particular shape or when driving using signs to
name shapes can help her gain knowledge of all the shapes.
