School Year: 2014/15 Goal: To improve my classrooms management skills, by continuing existing classroom rules and routines and practicing proactive management strategies Strategies For Goal Achievement
Timelines
Colleagues/Mentors Comments
Carefully observe existing
classroom rules and routines and how my TA uses them. So that I can be consistent with existing expectations.
PS1
I hope to ask my TA for
clarification of class rules and how they came up with them and what potential issues they are most effective in addressing. I will ask my consultant for contrast and clarification
Form positive relationships with
students with clear expectations. I will quickly learn to anticipate and address management issues proactively.
PS1
Ask TA for information on
student interactions and how these affect class dynamics. Reflect on my own observations.
Use my own lesson time to
experiment with using embedded management techniques in my lesson plan. Such as behavior expectation and lesson ordering, flow and reducing down time in transitions.
Ongoing
Elicit TA and consultant feedback
on how lesson planning structure and stated expectation can be made more effective. I hope that through some experimentation and trial and error I will continue to move towards a management style that is comfortable and effective for me.
Indicators and Measures of Goal Achievement:
If I am successful in being consistent with existing classroom management routines, students will continue to observe classroom rules and routines while I am teaching. I will be successful in using embedded lesson plan management techniques when students understand them clearly and I can accurately predict challenges in a particular lesson and address them proactively in my planning.
