ELC 101- Learning Episode 5- CREATING AN APPROPRIATE LEARNING

ENVIRONMENT

REVISIT THE LEARNING ESSENTIALS

The classroom climate that is conducive for learning is one that is non-threatening yet
business-like. It is a classroom where, when creating audio-visual presentations, the following
are observed:
 Specific classroom rules and procedures are clear.
 Classroom rules and procedusres are discussed within the few days of the school.
 Students are involved in the design of rules and procedures.
 Techniques to acknowledge and reinforce acceptable behavior are employed.
 Clear limits for unacceptable behavior are established and negative consequences for
such are communicated.
 Classroom processes are democratic.

ANALYZE:
1. What should the teacher have in mind when he/she designs the classroom
organization? What about you, do you have theories/principles for this? What are
they?

The teacher should have in mind that the classroom organization should be tailored to the
needs of their students. They should focus on creating an environment that encourages
collaboration and engagement, while also providing an appropriate level of structure.
Additionally, they should take into account the physical space of the classroom, as this can have a
major impact on the flow of the classroom activities.
My main principle for designing a classroom organization is that it should be flexible. It
should be able to adapt to the changing needs of the students and allow for different types of
activities. Additionally, the classroom should be organized in such a way that it encourages
collaboration and fosters a sense of community. Additionally, the teacher should be mindful of
the physical layout of the classroom and make sure that each student has an appropriate
workspace. Finally, the teacher should also strive to create an environment that is welcoming and
encouraging for all students.

REFLECT:

1. Imagine yourself organizing your classroom in the future. In what grade year level
do you see yourself?
I see myself organizing my classroom in the future in the 8th grade year level.

2. What rules/procedures would you consider for this level? Why?

The rules/procedures that I would consider for the 8th grade level are the following:
1. Establish clear expectations for the student's behavior and performance. This will help ensure that the
student is held accountable for their actions and that they understand what is expected of them.
2. Provide regular feedback and support. This will help the student stay motivated and on track with their
goals.
3. Encourage the student to take ownership of their learning. This will help them develop a sense of
responsibility and self-discipline.

4. Set realistic goals and objectives. This will help the student stay focused and motivated.
5. Monitor the student's progress and provide appropriate rewards and recognition. This will help the
student stay motivated and will also help them to recognize their accomplishments.
6. Provide a safe and supportive learning environment. This will help the student feel comfortable and
secure while learning.
