Checkpoint 7.2 Optimize relevance, value, and authenticity
Checkpoint 7.3 Minimize threats and distractions
Checkpoint 8.3 Foster collaboration and
communication
How and why?
-In the anticipatory set, I make math relevant to students by saying that we use it every day and by asking students to give me examples. -Also, I make multiplication relevant by making it part of calendar which is a daily routine. By making multiplication part of the daily routine, it can help limit distractions because it creates structure. Students work in pairs during the card multiplication game and collaborate to find the right answer.

How would this help students meet the
goal? Students will work together to answer the multiplication problem based on the cards they drew. By making a multiplication problem part of calendar each day, it provides structure to the classroom by creating a daily routine. I asked students to name a few ways that they use math each day to make it more relevant and to get them thinking about the importance of math.
